Reflections...

Picture
This photo was taken on a recent hike to Matthiessen State Park. I enjoyed the short hike to the waterfall. I was particularly drawn to the water that day. Although this isn't anything unusual; I have always been drawn to waterfalls, especially the sound, the movement of water rushing, the changing colors, and its impact on the environment. This time it was different. I was attracted to the stillness. I noticed something that immediately caught my eye and I scrambled to catch the moment with my cell phone.
I love this picture. It captures simplicity; the "it is what it is... and the beauty lies in truth. This is the type of rare moment when you see a celebrity without make-up; natural beauty. You won't find many photographs like this on a calendar or on someone's desktop.

I love so many things  about this picture; the dead tree resting over the top of the rocks; the roots that remind me of a bad hair day.I love the water and how it mildly distorts the rocks beneath; The stillness of the water; the reflections that seem too perfect.

All of this has inspired a new series that captures a slice of reality; the beauty of a bad hair day and naked face...The type of reality that is real and rare, yet special.
